Read, Watch, Listen: Making the most of your commute

For those of us who spend time commuting each week, using that time wisely is a great way to be productive, fit more into your day, and for many, to relax.

This month, as many of us head into the office a little more after the Easter break, we thought we’d compile some commute-friendly recommendations – ideal for you busy office managers and professionals.

In just a couple of minutes read we’ll share a captivating book, an exciting TV show, and a thought-provoking podcast that will make your daily journeys more engaging.

Book: “Diary of a CEO” by Steven Bartlett

Last year we recommended his podcast, but with his book out in hardback there is a lot to be learned about “The 33 Laws of Business and Life.”

Hugely beneficial to both business, careers and life, this book offers a raw and honest glimpse into the mind of a modern entrepreneur.

Bartlett shares his triumphs, struggles, and the invaluable lessons learned along his journey. From leadership insights to personal growth reflections, this book serves as inspiration for anyone navigating the everyday pressure of business and life.

If you’re even remotely interested in personal development this book is a great read!

TV Show: “The Gentleman” on Netflix

If you like romance, “One Day” is top of the list. For the real life documentary lovers we can recommend “Can I Tell You a Secret?”, but right now we’re watching “The Gentleman.”

Sophisticated, a stunning setting, and a brilliant cast: the latest show from Guy Ritchie leaves you on the edge of your seat and is a truly binge-watchable show. Full of twists and turns, fast cars, drama and the usual Ritchie humour, we think it’s the perfect antidote to a long commute, and it’ll only take you a couple of days to get through it!

Podcast: “The Rest Is History”

Top of the podcast charts in the UK is “The Rest is History” with Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbrook.

History podcasts generally fill the top 100 charts, with unlikely listeners enjoying the fun, frivolity and interesting facts that come from dissecting different times and places in the past. This podcast is adored by fans, and as well as featuring special guests such as Tom Hanks, it explores so many different times, from the Titanic, the history of chocolate, JFK to Roman history. There is something for everyone and after reading the fan reviews, it seems once you’re in you’re hooked!

So there you have it—three fantastic recommendations to make the most of your commute. “Diary of a CEO” will motivate you for your working day, “The Gentleman” will leave you desperate for home time, and “The Rest is History” will help you sharpen your leadership skills. Happy commuting and happy consuming!
